WARREN — Titusville’s Jaydin O’Neill ran for 226 yards, including an 82-yard gain on third down from his own 5-yard line late in the fourth quarter, as the Rockets survived a late scare from Warren to pick up their first win of the season, 26-7 in nonregion football Friday at War Memorial Field.

Touchdown runs of 22 and 10 yards from Alex Hartshorn, coupled with a 33-yard scoring run from O’Neill allowed Titusville (1-4) to lead 20-0 after three quarters.

But the Dragons (1-4) made things interesting early in the fourth quarter. Aiden Eger ran for a 75-yard run on the first play of the final period and four plays later, on fourth-and-goal, Parker Kiser scored from 3 yards out.

Titusville fumbled on its second play of the next drive, but Warren couldn’t capitalize as its 27-yard drive stalled at the 2-yard line when the Rockets stopped Noah Bleech on a quarterback sneak.

Titusville then faced a third-and-6 deep in its own territory before O’Neill put the game out of reach with his long run. Three plays later, the Rockets’ Dalton Knapp capped the scoring with an 11-yard scoring run.

Eger ran for 139 yards for Warren, which turned the ball over four times on a pair of interceptions and a pair of fumbles.

Titusville turned the ball over twice, including Chris Orth’s interception in the end zone that eventually set up the Dragons’ lone score of the night.

Warren’s three first-half drives ended with a Titusville stop on fourth-and-10 from the 28-yard line, an interception and a punt. The Dragons’ first four drives of the second half ended with a fourth-down stop, an interception and two fumbles.

Warren will stay out of its region next Thursday when it travels to Girard to take on the Yellowjackets.
