McDowell hands Warren 4-1 loss
ERIE — The Warren boys soccer team traveled to McDowell on Tuesday and fell to a tough Trojans squad 4-1.
The lone Dragons goal was scored by senior Quinn Norris, assisted by sophomore Gabe Dougherty.
Dragons head coach Steffen Blair had a positive outlook despite the loss.
“We were really happy with the energy and shape early on in the game,” he said. “Trey (Carrington) set the tone for us and we did a great job of pinning them in their own half.”
Steal leaders for the game were Norris with 26, Timmy Giger with 18 and Carrington with 16.
Goalkeeper Adon Maier had 10 saves in the contest.
“It takes consistency across 80 minutes to compete with the quality teams,” Blair said, “and we were missing that today.”
McDowell won the jayvee contest 1-0.
Warren looks to regain that consistency it is seeking when it hosts General McLane on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. varsity start at War Memorial Field.
