Lady Dragons post tennis win over Sharon
SHARON — The Warren girls tennis team traveled to Sharon on Saturday for a non-region matchup and bested the Tigers with a 4-1 victory.
Head coach Thomas Pellegrino reflected on the victory, “We were down our No. 2 singles player Alannah Garza, so everyone had to bump up a slot in the lineup and raise their level to grab the team win.”
The Lady Dragons swept singles with Lucy Harrison securing a sweep of Alexa Joint 6-0, 6-0, then Grace Carlson rolled Tins Salinas 6-2, 6-0 and Sarah Harvey took down Katelyn Powell 6-1, 6-0.
“We went into today’s match with a great mindset and drive to win,” Carlson mentioned. “And we did exactly what we wanted to do.”
Dragon tennis senior Lucy Harrison added she was, “…proud of my team for stepping up in every position, coming together, and securing this win.”
Then in first doubles, Warren posted a narrow victory from Brady Caudill and Olivia Romanosky defeating Kassie Harrison and Ellie Nespar 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.
“We were really impressed with how the team handled the match overall,” Pellegrino stated. “And Sarah Harvey had an impressive singles debut at the three slot.”
Sharon’s only victory came in second doubles as the duo of Gabby Becker and Camille Klaric defeated Lilly Seyler and Carly Fitzsimmons 6-3, 6-2.
Warren improved to 2-1 on the season and are back at home this Thursday with Mercyhurst Prep making the trip to Betts Park.
