Knights hosts Harbor Creek in cross country

The Eisenhower cross country team hosted the Harbor Creek Huskies on Tuesday for a Region 4 meet.

The girls varsity squad ran tough but lost in dramatic fashion 26-29 to the Huskies. Laney Belcher’s time of 23 minutes, 13 seconds was good enough for third overall. Izzy Grosch (24:36), Lainey Font (25:23), Callie Delp (25:55), Bryn Lindell (26:33) and Addyson Britt (30:24) rounded out the times for the Knights.

The Eisenhower varsity boys were defeated by the stout Huskie squad, losing 15-50. Parker McBride was the top finisher for the Knights with a time of 19:53, followed by teammate Alex Lund’s 20:40. Mason Britt (21:22), Brice Ludwick (22:33), Carson Ferman (24:13) and Jonathan Bogniak (26:21) also ran for Eisenhower.

Head XC coach Darlene Beach reported, “Our girls ran tough on our home course, but came up short today by three points,” Knights head coach Darlene Beach said. “We saw Harbor Creek at the Red Dragon Invitational last Saturday, though they raced in the other division. We knew competing against their boys team was going to be a big challenge.”

In junior high girls action, Eisenhower’s Josie Elms once again paced the race and took top honors with a time of 11:09. Kaylee Ferino was second for the Knights (fourth overall) with a time of 12:37. Hanna Lund finished with a 12:59 and Naveen Mead ran a 14:16.
