COCHRANTON — The Eisenhower Knights will look to continue their three-game winning streak when they travel to Cochranton tonight to face the Cardinals who also sport a 3-1 record.
The Knights did just enough to beat Northwestern last weekend, 14-13, and will face a multidimensional football team in Cochranton.
After defeating Union City, the Knights have to control the line of scrimmage.
“They are nearly 50-50 running and passing,” Eisenhower head coach Jim Penley said. “We know it will be a battle up front, we can’t let them control it.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Cochranton High School.
The Cardinals start freshman Noah Carroll at quarterback who has completed 35 of 65 passes for nearly 600 yards and has an impressive 10 touchdown passes in his first four games with only two interceptions.
According to Penley, the strength of Cochranton is its players in skill positions.
“Their top receiver Walker Carroll, the older brother of the quarterback,” Penley added. “They have a couple of hard nosed running backs and their receivers do an excellent job of route running and blocking downfield.”
The Knights will look to continue their production in the running game. Leading the way are senior quarterback Caleb Jakubczak (57-497, 8.7 yard average) with six touchdowns. Eisenhower also leans heavily on senior tailback Logan Penley (63-314, 5.0 avg.) and he also has six touchdowns.
Jakubczack has been an efficient passer as well, going 21-43, 246 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
DRAGONS ENTERTAIN WINLESS TITUSVILLE
WARREN — The Warren Dragons will look to get back in the win column tonight as they host winless Titusville in a nonregion contest at War Memorial Field at 7 tonight.
The Rockets (0-4) have come close to victory this season, dropping a narrow 56-55 contest against Girard and then losing in double overtime to Conneaut Area last weekend 20-14.
Warren (1-3) has common losses with Titusville, but by a larger margin than the Rockets. Corry shut out Warren 47-0, while it defeated Titusville 49-10 and the Dragons fell harder to Conneaut, 48-6.
Titusville is led by junior running back Jaydin O’Neill averaging 107.5 yards per game with a team-high five touchdowns. Senior quarterback Brody Sellen has thrown for just 488 yards and four touchdowns, while being intercepted six times this season.
Last season the Dragons fell to Titusville 56-0 on the road.
