Eisenhower claims first victory of season

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS — The Eisenhower girls soccer team took to the road to play Cambridge Springs on Monday in search of its first victory of the season.

The trip proved to be successfu.

With the game tied 3-3 with nine minutes remaining in regulation play, Eisenhower’s Abby Jukes took her only shot of the game — from midfield no less.

Faith Johnson

“She came up on the ball, hit it perfectly and I watched it crest right over the Blue Devils’ goalie,” Knights head coach Faith Johnson said. “It couldn’t have been a more perfect shot.”

Jukes’ goal gave Eisenhower a 4-3 lead which held up the rest of the way.

The Knights also got two goals from Rosalie Rondeau and Leah Morrison had her first varsity goal on a beautiful corner kick.

“I’m incredibly proud of all of the girls,” Johnson said. “We settled into our passing game and communicated well all throughout the game. I have to give kudos to Lilly Jesperson. She played the entire game and really found the open players in the middle.”

With Mercyhurst Prep coming up today for Eisenhower, Johnson is hopeful Monday’s win will provide her team with some momentum.

“We really played well as a team today,” she said. “I’m hoping we continue to play the way we did today.”

Today’s game is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
