RUSSELL — It was junior Rever Caudill’s leg that made sure the Eisenhower Knights got their first win of the season Thursday.
Caudill, a junior, had four goals for the Knights in a 5-2 Region 4 win over Corry.
Both teams started strong on defense, as neither team could score game until the Knights’ Bryceton Wilkins took a nice pass from teammate Keaton Destro and scored the first goal of the game at the 22-minute mark of the first half on a shot at the middle of the net.
Caudill would score his first goal just four minutes later to give Eisenhower a 2-0 lead. He would add another goal with two minutes remaining in the half to give the Knights a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Corry cut the lead to 3-1 eight minutes into the second half on a goal by Grant Victory.
But Caudill got a quick goal for the Knights just two minutes later to make the score 4-1 midway through the second half.
Corry’s Ben Seymour would cut into the lead with a goal at the right corner of the net to make it 4-2 with 18 minutes remaining. But it was Caudill, who took a pass from JE Unida and found the Corry net to give the Knights some late breathing room.
“We really needed the win today after a rough start to the season,” Eisenhower head coach Mike Taylor said. “I am proud of the effort by our team, obviously just a great game by Rever. I’m looking forward to seeing how we play from here out.”
