The Warren girls volleyball team hosted General McLane on Tuesday evening and swept the Lancers 3-0, with game scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-20.
The stat sheet was well-balanced as many Lady Dragons contributed to the victory. Junior Malysia Sorensen led the way with four aces, and Madelyn Nosel, Peyton Cabisca and Attie Corey each had one.
Nosel commanded the kills category with 15, Corey contributed seven, Hailey Cabisca had five and Peyton Wotorson added four.
Sorensen and Nosel each had 12 digs, Brynn Norris added seven and Paiden Johnson had five. The Dragons had 13 blocks, headlined by three apiece from Lilly Newton, Norris and Cabisca. Setter Brynn Norris led the way with 27 assists.
“Overall we hit .239 on the match with 36 kills, so we did turn a lot of balls around and attack,” Warren head coach Mike Dolan said. “We’re still working on getting cleaner looks, and getting good touches on GM’s swings and serves gave us lots of opportunities. Madelyn Nosel led the way attacking and our front line did a great job blocking with eight total blocks, led by Brynn Norris, Hailey Cabisca and Lilly Newton with three each.”
“We did a good job as a team overall and we worked together to get the win,” Sorensen said. “Good passing and good defense led to scoring opportunities for our offense. This win was great, but we got sloppy at the end.”
Sorensen added: We need to improve our front and back row communications.”
In junior varsity action, the Dragons defeated the Lancers 25-21, 25-22. Maddy Snell had eight digs, Lara Pearson had seven kills and 10 digs, and Tia French added two aces and four digs. Kendall Skerda tallied two kills with Michaela Dolan contributing three aces, four digs and 22 assists. Kelsey Johnson had one ace and four digs, and Hailey Cabisca played well, adding two aces, 11 kills and two digs. Grace Schwab notched one ace and one kill, and Addison Brown rounded out the stat sheet with three kills and one dig.
The Dragons return to the court on Thursday when they travel to Meadville for a 7:15 p.m. start.
