Warren girls lose to visiting Trojans 3-1

The Warren Area High School girls soccer team hosted McDowell on Tuesday and despite a great effort, came up just short 3-1.
Meea Irwin scored the lone goal for the Lady Dragons and was assisted by Maddie Sliter. Sliter picked up a loose ball on the left side near midfield and was able to maneuver her way around numerous McDowell defenders to slide the ball to Irwin who buried the shot in the top right corner.
“I think we’ll get more chances if we take advantage of our width and get the ball more outside,” Dragons head coach Mark Ordiway said. “This will create more space for Meea to operate in the middle. Our defense will continue to get better. We are starting two freshmen (Joanna Bennett and Grace Wilkins), so they need a few games under their belts. Both players have bright futures.”
In junior Varsity play, the Trojans defeated the Dragons 7-1. Maddie Sliter had the goal for Warren.
The Lady Dragons are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Erie High to take on the Royals.
