The Warren Area High School girls tennis team suffered its first loss of the season to the visiting Cathedral Prep 5-0 on Tuesday.

The Ramblers won in straight sets in all five matches. Following is the summary: 1st singles: Paige Patsy (CP) defeated Lucy Harrison (W) 6-1 6-3; 2nd singles: Finleigh Handzel (CP) defeated Alannah Garza (W) 6-3 6-1; 3rd singles: Ella Fetzner (CP) defeated Grace Carlson (W) 6-0 6-1; 1st doubles: Katie Kuhar and Eliza Fetzner (CP) defeated Sarah Harvey and Olivia Romanosky (W) 6-1 6-1; and 2nd doubles: Lydia Beuchart and Liz Hutchinson (CP) defeated Brady Caudill and Carly Fitzsimmons (W) 6-1 6-0.

“Taking on the Ramblers is never easy, especially in just our second match of the season, but overall we were happy with how all of the girls competed today,” Warren head coach Thomas Pellegrino said. “I was extremely proud of how (Lucy) Harrison and (Alannah) Garza handled themselves today against PIAA state medalists (Paige) Patsy and (Finleigh) Handzel. Harrison was going toe to toe with last year’s bronze medalist in singles and Garza the same with last year’s doubles bronze medalist and they held their own.”

The Dragons (1-1 overall, 0-1 region play) look to bounce back from this loss during their next Region 2 match Thursday against Erie High at Frontier Park.

Starting at $3.50/week.
