Youth Wrestling

The Kinzua Youth Development Center is hosting a wrestling clinic featuring several successful high school coaches from 6-8 p.m. July 7-10 at the Kinzua Youth Development Center, (200 Struthers St.).

The camp is open to intermediate/advanced wrestlers at no cost and will focus on tactical-technical wrestling development needed for scholastic wrestling success.

The staff includes:

¯ Jeff Catrabone (Williamsville, New York): a former PIAA state champion from Harborcreek, who went on to be a three-time NCAA All-American wrestler for the University of Michigan. He currently coaches at St Francis in Buffalo, New York.

¯ Dave Kelpfer (Brookville): has notched more than 300 wins at Brookville High School which is a District IX power and is always in conversation for the best team in the PIAA.

¯ Drew Wilcox (Falconer, New York): An Eisenhower High School alumnus, Wilcox has guided the Falconer wrestlers and their teams to great heights for the past two decades in southwestern New York.

¯ Mike Labella (Massapequa, New York): Mike is a favorite here in Warren County with his systematic approach to the sport.

No registration is necessary, however interested wrestlers should be registered on the kinzuawrestlingclub.com webpage and sign a participation agreement/waiver.

In addition, the Kinzua Youth Development Center will play host to the Kinzua Wrestling Club-YMCA wrestling camp from 10-11:15 a.m. July 7-10.

The camp is open to youth ages 6-11 at no cost and will focus on early tactical-technical wrestling development through the exploration of locomotor activities, wrestling games and basic maneuvers. Local scholastic coaches and high school athletes will serve as instructors.

Parents interested in registering their children should go to https://kinzuawrestlingclub.com/ymca-camp and enroll them and sign an online participation/waiver agreement. The camp is limited to 30 children.

Golf leagues

RUSSELL — Warren Tire claimed the Midseason Tournament in the Cable Hollow Men’s Senior League.

The foursome of Juan Torres, Ross Cali, Bill Gross and Rod Whited shot a net 26, winning the tiebreaker on the ninth hole.

The second-place team was Townline Auto, which included Fred Carder, Doug Wheeler, Roger Golden and Bruce Macey. They combined for a 26.

There will be no golf this Friday (July 4), but will resume on July 11. All further events will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

High team points (blind draw): Bob Barney-John Weber 27, Jim Grosch-Patrick Lund 27, Mark Sweet-John Schuyler 24.

Individual high points winners: Weber 15, Tom Moyer 14, Lund 14, Will Avery 14, Schuyler 14.
