Warren’s Alana Stuart is all-region in softball

Alana Stuart
Warren’s Alana Stuart has been named an all-region softball all-star for the third time in her four-year high school career.
Despite missing seven games due to injury, the Mercyhurst University commit was voted to the Region 6 second team at pitcher.
Prior to Warren losing nine of its last 10 games, the Lady Dragons were 7-2 before her injury. She returned to pitch in parts of the last two games of the regular season.
“She has always put in a ton of work behind the scenes,” said her coach and mom, Carissa Stuart, whose Dragons finished 8-11 overall. “She’s always wanting this pitch to break more or get this pitch to land more low or hit the ball harder. I’m happy that she’s being given the acknowledgment and recognition that she’s worked so hard to achieve. It’s a blessing to coach her and athletes like her. She has definitely left a lasting impression on the Lady Dragon softball program.”
Stuart was 6-2 in the pitching circle with a 2.13 Earned Run Average. She struck out 107 batters and walked 13 in 52-2/3 innings. She struck out a season-high 18 batters in a 5-0 shutout win over General McLane on April 16, and struck out at least 12 batters in a game five times.
Offensively, Stuart was 20-for-41 (.488) with four home runs and 21 RBIs. She had 10 total extra base hits. On April 22, Stuart was 4-for-4 with a double, two home runs, and seven RBIs against Titusville.
Stuart has been an all-region pitcher three times and voted all-region at third base as a junior.
