Lindell is Region Athlete of the Year

Sam Lindell
With Warren’s boys’ and girls’ teams both winning their respective Region 4 titles this season, it’s no surprise that Dragons littered the region all-star teams announced earlier this week by the Erie Times-News.
Warren had the most first-team and most second-team all-stars, by far, based on region competition.
In addition to these lists, Warren’s District 10 3A high-jump champions Lilly Newton and Max Spiegel were named all-district all-stars, and Sam Lindell was announced as Region 4 Boys’ Athlete of the Year.
“We had great representation on both the girls’ and boys’ side for all-region honors,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “They had to earn their spot to be on that list, and we are very proud of everyone’s accomplishments. It is based solely on region competition and how we stack up, so having so many Warren names on that list just goes to show the strength of these athletes. Sam is extremely deserving of being male Region Athlete of the Year as he didn’t lose a single event he competed in during region competition. Great team seasons coming away as both girls’ and boys’ region champs as well.”
For the Lady Dragons, junior Morgan Alexander was listed in three first-team events, including the 1,600-meter run, 3,200, and as part of the 3,200 relay with junior Riley Evan and sophomores Leona Hovan and Brynn Norris.

Lilly Newton
Senior Lindsay Madigan was also a two-time individual first-team all-star in the triple jump and javelin. Hovan was also a first-team all-star in the 800, sophomore Adison Cullers in the 300 low hurdles, sophomore Attie Corey in shot put, and Newton, a junior, in high jump with a school-record-tying height of 5 foot-5.
Evan was also a second-team all-star in both the 1,600 and 3,200 and sophomore Julia Getner in the high jump and shot. Junior Zoe Rodgers (discus) and sophomore Gracie Page (pole vault) were also second-team all-stars for Warren.
Second-team relays included the 400 team of Madigan, Cullers, and juniors Madelyn Nosel, and Paiden Johnson, and in the 1,600 relay with Cullers, Hovan, Newton, and Nosel.
Eisenhower senior Sophia Martin was a first-team all-star in pole vault, and senior Emily Grosch (800), sophomore Rosalie Rondeau (triple jump), and the 3,200 relay team of Grosch, Senior Peyton Kellogg, junior Lainey Belcher, and sophomore Izzy Grosch were named to the Region 4 girls’ second team in their respective events.
Like the Lady Dragons, Warren’s boys also finished undefeated as a team, and Lindell led the way with region athlete of the year and was named a first-team all-star in four events — the 800, 1,600 (broke school record twice), and 3,200, as well as part of the 3,200 relay with junior Quinn Norris, and freshmen Leyton Salvatore and Cole Fitzgerald. Max Spiegel was a first-team all-star in the high jump.

Max Spiegel
Norris was a second-team all-star in the 800 for Warren, as well as in the 1,600 relay with senior Chase Sitler, junior Austin Fiscus, and Salvatore.
Other Dragon second-teamers were juniors Tomasso Clemente (200), Adon Maier (110 high hurdles), senior Cam Williams (300 hurdles), and the 400 relay team of Clemente, Sitler, junior Scott Nichols, and freshman Kahle Kuzminski.
For Youngsville, underclassmen Chase Myers (110 and 300 hurdles) and Ethan Beers (triple and long jump) were each two-time individual first-team all-stars. Freshman teammate Aiden Eger was also a first-teamer in javelin.
Beers was also named to the second team in high jump.
Eisenhower senior Joe Mistretta was a first-team all-star in the 400 and as part of the 1,600 relay with junior Bryceton Wilkins, and sophomores Easton Fitzgerald and Joe Gigliotti.
Mistretta was also a second-team all-star in the 800.
