After tough start, Tarp Skunks roll

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.

Jamestown fell behind 5-0 after the top of the first inning, but four relievers pitched a shutout the rest of the way, while the Tarp Skunks’ bats took care of the rest en route to 12-5 win over Geneva in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game Friday night at Diethrick Park.

Nick Ianniello (2-0) was the winning pitcher in relief, working 4.2 innings, followed by Mark Holm, Daniel Thomas and Warren native Brady Berdine, who struck out two in his one inning of work.

Meanwhile, the Tarp Skunks gave them plenty of offensive support, collecting 15 hits, including three from Nolan Smith and Justin Bremner, and two apiece from Brady McGuire, Ty Lagoni and Matthew Dumas. Smith and Dumas also drove in a pair of runs.

Jamestown will be back in action tonight at Batavia.

Starting at $3.50/week.
