Warren competes in Altoona, Coudersport
High School track and field invitationals went deep into the night Friday, due to weather delays and bus difficulties, but Warren athletes finished strong in Coudersport and Altoona.
“We sent kids to Coudersport and to Altoona to run Friday,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “Both meets had rain delays, but that didn’t stop our kids from some good performances. We had two more district qualifiers at the Coudersport meet. At Altoona, we had a host of season bests and Sam Lindell missed the school record by 1 second in the 2-mile (Greg Beardsley, 1980). All the kids are deserving of a little rest over the weekend as they have been competing hard lately. We are looking forward to the county meet (on Thursday).”
In the 3,200-meter run Friday in Altoona at the prestigious Mountain Lion Classic, the senior Lindell finished second out of 22 runners in 9 minutes, 33.85 seconds.
Lindell — already Warren Area High School’s record-holder in the 1,600 — finished just over 6 seconds behind event winner Griffin Selber of State College (9:27.28).
Freshman teammate Cole Fitzgerald was 14th in 10:25.04.
Earlier on Friday, sophomore Max Spiegel finished second out of 13 high-jumpers with a height of 6 feet, 1 inch. He was 17th out of 24 in the long jump at 19 feet, and 19th out of 26 in the triple jump at 38 feet, 1.5 inches. In the boys 1,600 meters, freshman Leyton Salvatore was 13th out of 25 in 4:46.22, and he was 16th out of 25 in the 800 meters in a “PR” time of 2:06.81. Adon Maier was 12th out of 19 in the 110-meter hurdle preliminaries with a “PR” of 17.03 seconds. Teammate Cam Williams also had a “PR” in the 300-meter hurdles in 45.59 seconds.
Morgan Alexander finished fifth out of 14 finishers in the girls 3,200 with a “PR” time of 11:31.05. Teammate Emma Peterson finished 10th in 12:29.21.

Some Dragons competed at the 2025 Coudersport Invitational on Friday.
After multiple weather delays, Warren freshman Hailey Cabisca’s fifth-place finish out of 23 in the pole vault at 8 feet was good enough to qualify for the District 10 3A meet. Another D10 qualifier, Austin Fiscus’s fourth place out of 32 in the 400 meters at 54.70 seconds qualified by a tenth of a second.
Other top-six medalists for Warren included Scott Nichols, sixth out of 15 in the 300-meter hurdles in 45.94 seconds, and Andrew Haight, fifth out of 32 in discus at 111 feet, 4 inches.
