COUDERSPORT — Eisenhower’s Emily Grosch broke the school record in the girls 800 meters highlighting a strong third-place finish for the Knights at the Coudersport Invitational on Friday.

Grosch’s record-breaking run of 2:26.18 narrowly edged that of Ike graduate Rachel Tutmaher whose time of 2:26.84 had stood since 2002. The time was also good enough for a third-place showing in the invitational.

Friday’s meet didn’t end until just after midnight Saturday morning thanks to lengthy storm delays during the competition. Despite the long day, Eisenhower returned with plenty to brag about.

Grosch was also a member of the winning 3,200-meter relay team alongside Peyton Kellogg, Izzy Grosch and Laney Belcher. The quartet’s winning time was 10:47.7. Eisenhower’s other winner on Friday was Bryn Lindell, who won the high jump by clearing 4 feet, 9 inches.

Rosalie Rondeau placed in all four of her events at Coudersport, compiling a third in the triple jump (31-1), a fourth in the long jump (15-0), a fifth in the 200 meters (27.49) and a sixth in the 100 meters (13.56).

Other medal-winning relay performances for the Knights included the second-place 1,600-meter relay team of Emily Grosch, Belcher, Lainey Font and Leah Morrison (4:24.37) and the sixth-place 400-meter relay team of Belcher, Marissa Gourley, Font and Morrison.

Rounding out Eisenhower’s female medal winners were Gourley with a third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.88) and a fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (52.38), Kellogg with a fourth in the 1,600 meters (6:02.99) and Font with a sixth in the 400 meters (1:07.64).

Eisenhower’s boys team also had a strong showing at the meet, finishing sixth in the overall team standings.

Joe Gigliotti and Joe Mistretta provided the team’s two individual victories on Friday with Gigliotti winning the 1,600 meters in 4:33.85 and Mistretta claiming the 800-meter victory in 2:01.47. Gigliotti was also the runnerup in the 3,200 meters with a run of 10:01.95.

Other individual medal winners for the Knights included Bryceton Wilkins, who was fourth in the high jump (5-6), JE Unida who was fifth in the triple jump (37-9) and sixth in the high jump (5-2), and Seth Jensen, who finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 9 inches.

Eisenhower also placed a pair of relay teams among the medal winners. The 1,600-meter relay team of Easton Fitzgerald, Mistretta, Michael Palmieri and Wilkins was second with a time of 3:44.63. The 400-meter relay team of Ryan Chambers, Palmieri, Fitzgerald and Wilkins was fifth with a time of 47.89.
