Eagles post dominant softball victory
SMETHPORT — Youngsville needed just three innings to pick up its second softball victory in as many days with a dominant 16-0 shutout of Smethport on Wednesday.
Senior Kamden Swearingen added another pitching gem to her resume by allowing just one hit in three innings and striking out three while walking none.
Youngsville had runners all over the bases in the win, drawing 11 walks, collecting eight hits and having two batters hit by pitches. Seniors Swearingen and Kennedy Allen each reached base three times and scored three runs apiece while classmate Ireland Abraham was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Paige Stover had two hits for the Eagles and freshmen Maci Benton and Arianna Haight both played key roles in the third inning. Benton had an RBI single and Haight brought home another run with an RBI groundout.
Youngsville returns to the diamond today when it hosts the final scheduled varsity game to be played at Youngsville High School. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
