Warren’s baseball team ended its season on Wednesday with a 9-1 Region 6 loss to visiting Harbor Creek at Old Legion Field.

The Huskies (12-7 overall and 9-5 in Region 6) scored five runs in the third and three in the fourth and held off Warren for its fourth straight win.

Lucas Hanson had three hits and Jake Rzodkiewicz and Maddox Vaughn two hits each for Harbor Creek, which had 11 total hits — five of those doubles. Aidan Vaughn scored three runs and pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out six, for the win.

Broc Bryan and Colin Zdarko had two hits apiece for Warren, which ends its season at 0-18.

“It’s not how we wanted the last game of the year to go; surely isn’t how we wanted the season itself to go, and I’m absolutely gutted for our three seniors,” said Warren coach John White. “They all had great seasons this year. Carter (Cochran) and Felix (Valencia) both made great cases for end-of-year awards and Jacob Franklin was a huge leader throughout the entire year. I’m proud of how far those three have come from when they were freshmen and they’re going to do amazing things at their respective schools.

“We’ve showed many times this year we can compete in this region, but it’s going to take a lot of work this offseason,” said White. “We need to make the fundamentals automatic and we need to start making more efforts in the weight room. We see the same potential we saw at the beginning of the year. We’re a young team and with some strength and more experience, I know we can get to where we want to be.”

Cochran ended his high school career with 10 strikeouts over 3-2/3 innings in the loss. Valencia doubled to the fence in his last at bat.

Starting at $3.50/week.
