Preseason

football camps

Deion Jackson of Gold Star Athletics football training will be operating two preseason camps this month.

Assisted by Warren County Youth Football League and Beaty Warren Middle School football coaches, the camps will be held, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to noon May 10 and 2-4 p.m. May 31 at Betts Park, 100 Ludlow St., Warren.

The first camp will focus on speed, agility and conditioning, while the second camp will concentrate on offense and defense, and will include a two-hand touch game.

The camps, which are for boys and girls within Warren County who are in third through sixth grade (based on fall 2025 grade level), are free, but registration is required at https://forms.office.com/r/heytKetfr0.

Jr. high track

Beaty Warren Middle School’s boys track and field team finished third out of 13 teams at the 30th annual Union City Junior High Invitational on Wednesday at Union City High School.

First-place finishers for Beaty included Braedyn Knupp, out of 36 sprinters, in the 100-meter dash (11.92 seconds), and Mason Warner out of 32 in long jump (17 feet, 2 inches).

Other highlights for Beaty included Warner’s fourth-place finish out of 25 in the 400 (1:00.28), Blake Peterson, third out of 19 in the 300 hurdles (49.13), Nathaniel Harris, third out of 19 in the 800 (2:28.63), Wyatt Wilson, third in long jump (15-11) and second out of 17 in triple jump (33-01-1/2), Conlin Phillips, seventh in long jump (15-01), Jerimiah Lyon, third out of 18 in high jump (5-01), and Jake Lawson, eighth out of 34 in discus (89-04).

Beaty’s boys were third in team points with 75 behind Parker Middle School (121) and Titusville (86).

Sheffield’s boys team was sixth out of the 13 teams with 28 points, led by Alex VanGelder, first in discus by over 26 feet with a throw of 136-08 and third out of 34 in shot put at 36-08. Ryder Wagner won the 110 hurdles over 24 others in 17.12 seconds, and he was fifth out of 18 in high jump at 5-01 and eighth in the 100 at 12.34. Wyatt Wilkins was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 18.69.

Eisenhower’s Parker McBride finished fifth in the 800 at 2:30.53.

Beaty Warren Middle School’s girls track and field team was fifth out of 13 scoring teams at the 30th Annual Union City Junior High Invitational on Wednesday at Union City High School.

Nina Woldt was first out of 20 runners in the 1,600 with a time of 5:52.47 and third in the 3,200 in 12:17.75. Teammate Ava Wymer was third out of 28 in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.92 and fourth out of 41 in the 100 in 13.54. She also tied for fourth out of 28 in the high jump with a height of 4-05. Raelynn Barr was second out of 19 in the 300 low hurdles in 55.37. Joanna Bennett finished sixth out of 19 in triple jump at 28-04.

Sheffield’s Laelah Mueller tied for fourth in high jump at 4-05.

On opening night of the Warren County Trap League, Sheffield outshot Corry 344-337, Tidioute topped Kalbfus 332-311, Brokenstraw edged Sugar Grove 326-324 and Pine Grove shot 341 on its bye week.

Perfect 50s were recorded by Sheffield’s Tucker Nystrom and Shawn Nystrom, and Corry’s Ken Berkhous.

Cindy Cable was the High Lady with a 48. Tucker Nystrom was High Junior with his 50. Pine Grove’s Matt Franklin was High Sub Junior with a 47. Sheffield’s Lee Dunkle was High Veteran with a 49. Berkhous was High Sr. Veteran with his 50. Tidioute’s Ken Anderson was High Super Sr. Veteran with a 48.

Golf leagues

WARREN — KCS Energy leads the Tuesday Night League at Jackson Valley Golf Course with 50.5 points.

Eagles Club is second with 49.5 points, followed by 4-Score (48), Rams Engines (46.5) and Sons of the Legion (46.5).

Individually, Jesse McMichael earned the most points with 9, followed by Joe Saber and Chase Elmquist with 8.5 and Casey Moyer with 8.

McMichael shot the low gross on the front nine with a 35 and Mark Sweet was low on the back nine with a 38. Among seniors, Chet Loomis led on the front nine with a 39 and Saber led the back nine with a 38.

Elmquist had the low net in the front nine with a 32 while Tim Munksgard and Rick Gignac tied on the back nine with 35s. Among seniors, Jeff Uber and Dale Johnson tied on the front nine with 35s and Denny Holcomb led the back nine with a 36.

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — The Youngsville Senior Golf League held its annual Opening Day Scramble on Tuesday at Maplehurst Country Club.

Team 5 won first place with a match of cards over Team 13. Both teams shot 33s. Team 5 was made up of Art Ward, Art Luther, Jim Chapman and Bob Downey. Team 13 was made up of Fred Carder, Dough Wheeler, Chick Vesotski and Scott Pepperman.

Team 7 was third with a 34. Tim Sandberg, Doug Thompson, Ron Brown and John Siwinski made up Team 7.

Bob Holt was closest to the pin at No. 16.

Youth softball

Calvert-Pearson beat Dahlstrom Roll Form 12-2.

Alice Sanford, Anna Hulings and Nora Nansen each doubled in the win. Nansen earned the win in the circle.

Nora Nansen earned the win in the circle as Calvert-Pearson beat Superior Plus Propane 14-9.

Calvert-Pearson scored five runs in the first inning and Superior Plus Propane made it 5-4 in the top of the second inning, but Calvert-Pearson pulled away from there.

Lilly Lucia tripled for I.O.O.F. in a 20-12 win over Dahlstrom Roll Form.

Leah Sudul, Bailey Dyke and Alexis Nuhfer each had a double to support winning pitcher Katelyn Krall.

Eliana Frederoski took the loss for Dahlstrom Roll Form.

Youth baseball

Morrison Trucking beat Winters Construction 12-11.

Parker Wilson doubled in the win.

Logan Peterson earned the win on the mound and doubled as Winters Construction topped Market Street Self Storage 8-7.

Anthony Allen and Vance Anzalone doubled while Harvey Reynolds tripled for Market Street Self Storage.

COED LEAGUE

RED DIVISION

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Behind five goals from Alex Lee Yaw and three from Ryan Deppas, Jade downed Black 11-6.

Nyle Bird added a pair of goals and Bruce Gardner chipped in one for the winners.

River Caudill, Casey Seymour and Gavin Rex all had two goals for Black.

A hat track from Alex Lee Yaw helped carry Jade to a 5-2 win over Grey.

Blake Bird and Bruce Gardner collected a goal apiece for Jade.

Tony Galbier and Steffen Blair scored a goal apiece for Grey.

Bert Meekins scored four goals and Mark Tauzel added two as Yellow upended Orange 9-3.

Andy Robertson, Abbie Merchant and Patrick Holmberg all chipped in one goal for the winners.

Sawyer Lynn had a hat trick for Orange.

Kayden Peterson contributed the other two goals for the winners.

Max Condoyannis’ hat trick accounted for all the scoring for Blue.

Kolbe Moore’s six goals and Kayden Peterson’s four lifted Yellow to an 11-7 win over Orange.

Hunter Edwards added the other goal for the winners.

For Orange, Lincoln Carpenter tallied four goals, Ryan Reynolds had two and Patrick Holmberg had one.

Sawyer Lynn scored three goals, Brady Smart and Cierra Lynn added two apiece, and Malorie Ryan chipped in one to spark Grey to an 8-5 win over Red.

Emilia Powell scored twice, and Carley Wilson, Samantha Kianso and John Sheldon found the back of the net once apiece for Red.
