Warren’s softball team scored nine first-inning runs en route to a 16-6 Region 6 win over General McLane on Thursday at Lady Dragons Field.
“It’s nice to see everyone contribute up and down the lineup, whether it was hitting or fielding,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart. “It was a great team effort and win tonight.”
Danica Abbey had three RBIs and Emma Gray, Emily Davidson and Alexis Jones added two RBIs apiece for the Dragons (7-4 overall and 4-4 in the region). Jones finished 2-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored, and Gray reached base four times in the win.
Olivia Romanosky also scored three runs for Warren, and she earned the win in the pitching circle in place of injured teammate Alana Stuart.
“Olivia, for the second night in a row, did a great job of throwing strikes and letting her fielders do their job,” said Coach Stuart.
Warren swept the season series with General McLane, which falls to 1-7 in Region 6.
In the four-inning junior varsity game that followed, Riley Cull started it off with a double down the left-field line and scored on a single by Tori Solberg. Teammate Brooke Sherry later hit a double into left-center field, and Mallery Velez reached base twice on walks. Peyton Hagg started pitching for Warren and Malysia Sorensen finished.
