The Warren Youth Climbing League competed in its third week last Monday and the teams are starting to hit their groove. Week 3 saw Allegheny Outfitters (1-0) facing Slick Text (0-1) and Whirley (1-0) vs. Bent Run (0-1).

In Division B, coming off of a win last week, Allegheny Outfitters got to work early, with Jaxson Boozer, Harrison Cathcart and Grayson Woods scoring well in the first half. Slick Text Hornets’ Avery Woldt put up a fantastic three-boulder average of 35 points, with teammates Logan Woldt and Gabriel Landin close behind. Bo Winkels inspired his team and provided a highlight late in the meet with a hard-fought top on Boulder-9, earning a personal best 26.7 three-boulder average. In the end the Sasquatches had three climbers posting three of the top four scores, besting the Slick Text Hornets 627-560.

In Division A, Whirly’s Nina Harrington and Isaac Boisvert put up some big numbers, and even though they were short one of their top climbers, it appeared that the Tornadoes were going to secure their second win of the season. However, sisters Elsie and Nina Woldt earned the top two scores of the night, by securing several difficult tops, including the flash bonus on Boulder-10 (a particularly difficult boulder), boosting the Bent Run Hellbenders to a 503-495 win over the Tornadoes.
