Warren shuts down Titusville in 2nd half

TITUSVILLE — Warren’s boys basketball team held Titusville to one basket in the second half of a 73-27 Region 5 win on Friday at Titusville High School.

Ahead 30-25 at halftime, the Dragons outscored the Rockets 32-2 in the third quarter.

“I think, to a player, they understood that what they gave effort-wise was not acceptable in the first half, and they needed to change their approach in the second half in terms of focus and effort,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. “We switched to two different presses in the second half and I thought that really helped flip the script and led to a lot of easy baskets off of their turnovers. When you only give up two points in a half, that’s a sign everyone is giving the effort you expect on the defensive end.”

Leihden Wotorson scored 13 of his game-high 18 points in the third-quarter run, and Allen Eaton added 8 of his 15. Eaton finished with three of Warren’s seven 3-pointers.

Fourteen players played and 10 scored for Warren. Logan Crissey and Jacob McMeans had 9 points apiece and Chase Sitler 8 for Warren, which improved to 13-3 overall with its fifth-straight win.

The Dragons are now 9-1 in the region, and Warren plays at non-region Mercyhurst Prep this afternoon.

Titusville is 2-15 overall and 0-10 in Region 5.

Earlier on Friday, Bradey Chase led 10 Warren scorers with 12 points in a 52-25 junior varsity win.
