Lady Eagles lose to Muskies

YOUNGSVILLE — A 14-0 run over the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth lifted the visiting Jamestown Muskies to a 52-32 victory over the Youngsville Eagles in Region 2 girls basketball Monday at Youngsville High School.

The Eagles got off to a good start, jumping out to an 8-4 lead and ending the first quarter tied at 10-10 thanks to a late basket from Kaylee Lauffenburger.

The Muskies led by three late in the first half before a deep 3-pointer from Haley Kent — just the second 3-pointer of the season for the Eagles — tied things up. Moments later, Kent added another bucket and the game would be tied at 20-20 heading into the break.

For much of the third quarter, Youngsville stayed right with the visitors and Natalie Ross’ basket with 2:49 remaining in the third quarter left the Eagles trailing by just one at 28-27.

That’s when the 14-0 Muskies run began.

Over the next six minutes, Jamestown got seven points apiece from Alayna Cadman and Adi Riley as the Muskies turned a close game into a comfortable lead.

Riley Robinault led the Eagles with 16 points with Kent adding seven points and Lauffenburger five. Jamestown’s Cadman led all scorers with 19 points with sisters Ari Riley and Ivy Riley each reaching double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Eagles return to their home court Wednesday when they host Forest Area in a makeup game. The game will be varsity only and will tip-off at 6 p.m.
