Warren wins volleyball tournament

COCHRANTON — Warren’s volleyball team won the 12-team Cochranton Tournament on Saturday.

The Dragons defeated Crawford Christian Academy, 25-18, 25-18, North East, 26-24, 25-18, Union City, 25-13, 25-13, and Iroquois, 25-15, 25-14, and split with Maplewood, 23-25, 25-19, in pool play. Their 9-1 record resulted in being the top seed from their pool for bracket play.

In the playoffs, Warren opened with Quaker Valley and defeated them, 25-22. Warren then beat Cochranton in the semifinals, 26-24. The other semifinal had Maplewood defeating Corry, 25-19, and set up a finals match with Warren and Maplewood, which split in pool play. Warren won 25-9 to take the championship.

Stats for the day for Warren included: Madelyn Nosel had 63 kills, 4 aces; Maddy Jones 53 kills, 13 aces, 21 digs; Lindsay Madigan 124 assists, 13 kills, 6 aces, 33 digs; Malysia Sorensen 65 digs; Attie Corey 10 kills, 4 blocks, 2 aces; Lauren Fajbik 10 kills; Sophie Walker 2 aces, 9 digs; Julia Getner 10 kills, 3 blocks; and Lily Walker 4 assists, 8 digs.
