Warren’s boys soccer team appeared headed for another scoreless regulation on Tuesday, but Erie High scored late in the second half and held on for a 1-0 Region 5 win at War Memorial Field.
The Dragons defeated Erie, 3-0, earlier this season, but fell on Senior Night to fall to 5-7 in the region. Erie is 6-6.
“It was a disappointing loss, but it was a nice night to honor and celebrate a talented senior class,” said Warren coach Steffen Blair of the Dragons’ second 1-0 region loss in the past four matches.
“Brody (Alexander), Dom (Holmberg), Chase (Sitler), and Casey (Rich) played great on the back line,” added Blair. “They’re really growing as a group and are masking a lot of issues for us right now. They limited them to one real chance all night and kept us calm in possession. The consistency that they bring is so important.”
Quinn Norris led with 25 steals, Trey Carrington added 16, and Sitler 15 in the loss.
