MEADVILLE — Warren’s four District 10 3A girls golf qualifiers saw their season end on Monday after the first day of the D10 individual tournament at The Country Club of Meadville.

The top eight individuals on the first day advanced to the final round.

Warren’s Kate Shippee and Elissa Errett each shot 104, tying for 10th five strokes back of the cut. Teammate Maddie Walker finished 12th at 107, and Allie Lauffenburger 14th with an 18-hole 115.

“It was a great season for our Lady Dragon golf team, which showed much improvement over last year,” said coach Scott Pearson, “and I am very proud of them. This was the first district championship round for three of our players, so this was a new experience for them. I am very happy for our seniors — Maddie Walker and Allie Lauffenburger — for making it to the D10 championships in their last year, and Walker has been in the program for three years starting when there was no girls golf team or girls region matches and mostly practicing with the boys’ team. Walker has run the full gamut with the girls’ team and it was nice to see her take advantage of her last year while leading the Dragons in scoring and making it to the D10 championships. Next year is going to be a bit of a rebuilding year for us as we are only returning four players from this year’s squad, so I am really hoping for a good turnout of new players for next year, but am very happy with the results of this season and am thankful for our players and the support we received from everyone in the community.”

The individual tournament resumes today. Fort LeBoeuf’s Cassidy Conn has the individual lead with an 85 — four strokes ahead of Meadville’s Brooke Hart.

Starting at $2.99/week.
