Oil City scored early and often in a 62-0 Region 6 win at Warren on Saturday night, keeping the Dragons winless at 0-8.

Cole Findlay threw three touchdown passes — including two long ones to De’Vaughn Griffin – in a 49-0 Oil City first half.

Griffin opened the scoring with a punt return for touchdown, and Findlay also threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Stephens in the first quarter.

Shia Sanchez had two rushing touchdowns in the first half, and Matthew Plumber scored on a 33-yard run.

Dawan Cruz and Alex McIntyre scored on touchdown runs in the second half, and the Oilers (4-4, 1-2 in Region 6) defeated Warren for the third straight season.

“We knew they were big and could move the line, but at some point we have to answer the call and believe in our ability,” said Warren head coach Cody Bupp.

Oil City held Warren to seven total yards and no completed passes. Freshman Ayden Corbett had 16 carries for 12 yards.

“As a young group, we are seeing the importance of off-season training and getting involved in other sports when going against these teams,” said Bupp. “We are at the groundwork as a program, and there is no substitute for football IQ, except for experience. You have to live and die the sport and bring the physicality each week.”

Warren falls to 0-3 in the region and has been outscored 382-44 in eight games. The Dragons have lost 20 straight dating back to 2022.

“Next week is going to bring on another tough region matchup,” said Bupp. “Meadville is a team that is a state honorable-mention team and will compete for a D10 title. No one cares that we are young; it’s time to show growth again.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
