Lady Dragons volleyball stays unbeaten
WATERFORD — Led by 20 kills in three games from Madelyn Nosel, Warren’s girls volleyball team is 11-0 overall and 8-0 in Region 5 after a sweep on Tuesday at Fort LeBoeuf.
“Madelyn Nosel had a big game attacking, hitting at a .485 clip with some big swings,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan of the 25-17, 25-10, 25-21 win. “Maddy Jones got us started quickly in the first two sets and Lilly Newton had some nice blocks at the net. Malysia (Sorensen) continues to impress in the back row with her defense and serve-receive. Lindsay (Madigan) got everyone involved in the offense. Good finish to the road trip with a region win.”
Nosel also had 13 digs. Madigan had 33 assists, 5 aces, and 11 digs, Jones 9 kills and 5 digs, Sorensen 21 digs and 3 aces, Newton 4 blocks, and Sophie Walker 2 digs, 2 aces, and 2 assists.
Warren hosts General McLane (1-7) in Region 5 on Thursday night.
Also on Tuesday, Warren’s junior varsity team lost to Fort LeBoeuf, 15-25, 13-25.
Lara Pearson had 5 kills for Warren, Brynn Norris 7 assists, Addison Ristau 4 digs, Brooke Sherry 4 kills, Paiden Johnson 13 digs, and Hailey Cabisca 5 digs and 2 kills.
EAGLES SWEPT
YOUNGSVILLE — Youngsville was swept by Cambridge Springs on Tuesday, dropping a 3-0 decision at Youngsville High School.
The Eagles dropped the opening set 25-12 and the second 25-14 before the Blue Devils closed out the match with a closer 25-20 final in the third and final set.
Kamden Swearingen led the Eagles’ serving game with three aces while Maddi Johnson had 14 assists from the setter position and led the team with eight digs. Riley Robinault had a team-best seven kills.
Youngsville dropped the junior varsity contest in identical 25-15 sets. Maci Benton and Desirae Merritt had three digs each for the Eagles.
The team returns to action on Thursday, traveling to Tidioute Charter for an all-county matchup.
