Ike girls claim OT win

PORT ALLEGHENY — Eisenhower made the long trip to Port Allegheny looking for a season sweep against the Lady Gators in a girls soccer game.

The Lady Knights, who claimed the first meeting 4-3 in overtime, were rewarded yet again when Lily Jesperson found the back of the net late in the second OT for a 1-0 victory.

“We started slow and were a little sluggish when the game started but then we got in our groove,” Eisenhower head coach Faith Johnson said. “The girls were determined to not lose at any cost,”

In the extra session, Callan Gigliotti and Rosalie Rondeau were the difference.

“I thought Camden and Rosalie stepped up defensively and really set a great tone for us,” Johnson said.

In the first overtime, Eisenhower had plenty of chances, but couldn’t convert, but in the second extra session Jesperson provided the game winner.

The Lady Knights are 10-5-1 overall and will close out their regular season at 4 p.m. today when they entertain Maplewood.

Starting at $2.99/week.
