Degnan, Caudill send Eisenhower past Commodore Perry 11-2

HADLEY — The Eisenhower Knights took to the road Thursday and made the most out of the long trip to face Commodore Perry in nonregion boys soccer action with an 11-2 victory.

The Knights showed no signs of being tired from the bus ride as they jumped out quickly on the Panthers with Rever Caudill scoring his first of three goals in the game in the opening minutes to take a 1-0 lead.

Eisenhower was far from satisfied as senior Logan Degnan continued his hot foot as he scored the first of his four goals in the game at the 28-minute mark. The two Knights would score four goals in a 10-minute span to build up a 4-0 lead.

Ayden Stiteler made it 5-0 before Bryceton Wilkins scored from David Abadie to make it 6-0 before halftime.

Degnan would add two quick goals to start the second half to make it 8-0 and Knights head coach Mike Taylor began to work in younger players.

“I was proud that we came out aggressive from the start,” Taylor said. “I thought our boys played well. It was also a good opportunity to get a look at some of the guys in an actual game.”

Not content to let his older brother score, Mason Degnan got his first goal of the season as did Matthew Rutkowski. Caudill and Wilkins would each add another score in the second half as the Knights closed out the game with an 11-2 win.

“The best thing about a game like today was the opportunity to work on guys getting some game experience and giving our starters a bit of a break,” Taylor said.

Eisenhower is back in action Saturday as it travels to Port Allegany for an 11 a.m. game.

Starting at $3.50/week.
