UNION CITY — Warren’s cross country teams swept host Union City on Tuesday in a Region 4 meet.

Emma Peterson, Cassidy Britton, Morgan Alexander, Leona Hovan and Riley Evan finished first through fifth out 14 runners in the Lady Dragons’ 15-42 win. In the Warren boys’ 19-38 victory, Sam Lindell was first and Cam Williams second, and Warren freshmen Cole Fitzgerald and Leyton Salvatore fourth and fifth, respectively.

“We came away with two good victories today,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “Our girls continue to look strong going 1-5 in their race. Sam (Lindell) and Cam (Williams) led the way for the boys going 1-2 with our stellar freshmen group finishing strong and securing the victory. Good day all around for the kids.”

Peterson paced the girls’ 2.2-mile race at 15:06.86, followed by Britton’s 15:14.45, Alexander’s 15:43.15, Hovan’s 16:41.48, and Evan’s 16:44.44. Other Warren finishers included Loralei Johnson (ninth, 19:37.08), Ella Cull (12th, 21:03.52), and Rose Rioux (13th, 21:14.53).

Lindell’s 11:59.44 won the boys race by 44 seconds. Williams was second in 12:43.46, Fitzgerald fourth at 13:12.53, Salvatore fifth at 13:42.06 and Reilly Morgan seventh (out of 25) at 13:57.85. Other Dragon finishers were Grayson Collopy (ninth, 14:31.14), Gavin Heeter (13th, 15:33.45), Jack Monroe (19th, 18:03.20) and Jonah Brinkley (23rd, 19:26.19).

CORRY SWEEPS IKE

Also in Region 4, Corry swept host Eisenhower despite strong individual finishes for the Knights.

For the Lady Knights in a 23-34 loss, Emily Grosch was second out of 15 runners at 22:43, Peyton Kellogg fifth at 23:56 and Izzy Grosch sixth at 23:45. Other Knights included Callie Delp (ninth, 25:47), Lainey Font (12th, 26:07) and Lilly Cathcart (15th, 30:33).

In the boys race, Joe Mistretta was third out of 20 in 19:06, Alex Lund ninth in 21:33, TJ McAulay 13th in 23:14, Carson Ferman 14th in 24:23, Brice Ludwick 15th in 24:25, Mason Britt 16th in 24:32, Aidon Knowles 18th in 26:08 and Jonathan Bogniak 20th in 28:16.
