Warren girls golf sixth in Hermitage
HERMITAGE — Warren’s girls golf team was sixth out of 11 teams at Tuesday’s Tam O’Shanter Golf Course Invitational.
Hickory won with a team score of 245, West Middlesex shot 266, South Fayette 276, Grove City 278, Fort LeBoeuf 281 and Warren 295.
The individual competition — with 47 girls from 11 schools — was won by West Middlesex’s Kate Sowers — who is the reigning Pennsylvania Golf Association Junior Girls Champion — with an 18-hole 73.
Warren’s Elissa Errett tied for 11th place with a career-best 93 and Kate Shippee was 13th at 95. Rounding out the scoring for Warren was JoJo Gray’s 107, Allie Lauffenburger’s 107 and Katharine Smith’s 121.
“This was the second invitational in a week and helps prepare us for our next (region match) held at Blueberry Golf Course on September 17,” said Warren coach Scott Pearson. “The season is quickly winding down with only three weeks left and we are hoping to end with a strong finish.”
