Warren boys, girls finish 3rd at Titusville Invite

TITUSVILLE — Warren’s cross country teams had top-10 finishes in both the boys’ and girls’ varsity races at the Rocket Invitational on Saturday at the Ed Myers Complex.

Both teams finished third out of over 20 teams in each race held at the same location as the District 10 championships.

For the boys, individually, senior Sam Lindell was third out of 221 runners, finishing the 5K in 16 minutes, 8 seconds. Senior teammate Cam Williams was 10th in 17:01. Other finishers included freshmen Cole Fitzgerald (31st, 17:54), Leyton Salvatore (40th, 18:26), Reilly Morgan (42nd, 18:32), and Grayson Collopy (61st, 19:01), and junior Emre Morgan (78th, 19:32).

For the Lady Dragons, who also placed third as a team, sophomore Emma Peterson was 10th out of 172 runners in 20:05, and senior Cassidy Britton 12th in 20:16.

Other Warren finishers included Junior Morgan Alexander (24th, 21:12), sophomore Leona Hovan (26th, 21:17), junior Riley Evan (37th, 22:06), junior Loralei Johnson (107th, 25:24), freshman Ella Cull (148th, 29:06), and sophomore Rose Rioux (155th, 29:56).

“We had a great weekend all around,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “We had medalists in every race and our varsity girls and boys finishing third overall as teams is a great way to start the season. We have some big goals set for our teams this year and this was definitely one step toward meeting them.”

Eisenhower’s girls cross country team finished 12th out of 20 teams. Senior Emily Grosch was 30th in 21:33, sophomore Izzy Grosch 53rd in 22:44, senior Peyton Kellogg 69th in 23:18, sophomore Callie Delp 95th in 24:39, sophomore Lainey Font 103rd in 25:01, and junior Lilly Cathcart 154th in 29:50.

Pacing Ike’s boys was Senior Joe Mistretta, finishing 29th in 17:53. Other finishers for Eisenhower included Alex Lund (71st, 19:17), sophomore Mason Britt (119th, 20:35), freshman Carson Ferman (136th, 21:05), freshman Brice Ludwick (146th, 21:17), senior TJ McAuley (182nd, 22:58), senior Aidon Knowles (208th, 25:54), and sophomore Jonathan Bogniak (212th, 26:54).

“It was a chance to see where we are at the first time out,” said Ike coach Darlene Beach. “A lot of the boys and girls are ahead of where they were at last year.”
