Seneca stays unbeaten
‘Quick and athletic’ Bobcats beat Warren 5-2
“Extremely quick and athletic,” visiting Seneca jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead en route to a 5-2 nonregion win over Warren on Monday at War Memorial Field.
“They were by far the fastest team we have seen this season,” added Warren coach Mark Ordiway, whose Dragons are 2-5 overall. “Give our girls credit, though, for battling hard for 80 minutes. We play with a lot of heart.”
Madison Jones made “a beautiful pass,” according to Ordiway, into space near the box and Meea Irwin was able to curl a shot into the opposite corner for Warren’s first goal.
Meea was able to direct a ball to Lani Wenzel just outside the box for a hard strike just over the keeper’s hands for the second goal.
“I think Charlotte Keeports played a great defensive game at left back,” said Ordiway. “She helped cover and clean up a lot of Seneca attacks. Kaylee Cyphert as an outside midfielder has been playing well this season. She understands the role and is excellent at tracking back and helping out. Bella Campbell continues her strong play in goal, recording an unbelievable 26 saves.”
Seneca is 5-0 overall.
