The Eisenhower girls soccer team improved its record to 2-0-1 on the season Thursday when it defeated Erie East 2-0.

The Lady Knights were aggressive defensively from the start and moved the ball patiently, taking numerous shots on goal, but it was Callan Gigliotti who passed the ball in over the heads of the Erie players to Alexandra Scholar who was able to find the back of the net midway through the first half to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Eisenhower clung right to that advantage, but with seven minutes remaining in the game, Scholar once again found the back of the net on an unassisted goal to give the Lady Knights some breathing room and a 2-0 lead, which would be the final score.

“We played a hard game and created multiple opportunities throughout the entire game,” Eisenhower coach Faith Johnson said. “It’s great to see the girls putting into play in games the things we work on in practice. We were able to get every girl in the game and get some valuable experience in a tough game. We still have to work on finishing strong, but I’m excited for the direction the team is going so far this season.”
