Bradford wins Region 6 showdown over Warren

In a battle of the top two teams in Region 6, and of two 100-goal scorers, Bradford jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead en route to a 6-2 win over Warren on Wednesday at War Memorial Field.
"I give credit to Bradford as their touches, passing, and teamwork were much sharper than ours from the beginning," said Warren coach Mark Ordiway, whose Dragons are 6-6 overall and 3-1 in the region. Bradford moves to 4-0 atop the region.
"We did have a few decent shots on goal and nice crosses in the first half, but their keeper made some nice saves and catches," added Ordiway. "Meea Irwin scored our first goal on a pass from Lani Wenzel midway through the second half. A few minutes later, Meea connected with her sister, Leyna, on a corner kick and header into the back post."
Earlier this season, Meea Irwin surpassed 100 career goals as a junior, and Bradford's Bella Prince did the same last year as a junior. The senior Prince scored twice and added an assist in Wednesday's win. She also has over 100 assists for her high school career.
"I think we can improve upon what we saw today and give them a better game on the road," said Ordiway. "This was the first game with this starting lineup and we may tweak a couple things with our positioning to help us."
