Warren’s volleyball team swept McDowell on Thursday at Warren Area High School in its Region 5 opener.

“Good start to the Region 5 league play,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan of his team’s 25-15, 25-11, 25-15 sweep of the Trojans. “Blocking was solid again, as all our middles, Lilly (Newton), Julia (Getner), and Attie (Corey) were tough at the net. Maddy (Jones) and Madelyn (Nosel) both took some great swings, and the serve receive passing from Sophie (Walker) and Malysia (Sorensen) allowed Lindsay (Madigan) to run a very effective offense.”

Jones had 10 kills and 11 digs, Nosel 12 kills, and Madigan 27 assists, 10 digs and two aces. Defensively, Sorensen had 15 digs and Walker seven. Corey contributed four kills and two blocks in the win for Warren (2-0).

In Warren’s 25-18, 25-23 junior varsity win, Hailey Cabisca had 7 kills, Brynn Norris 13 assists, Brooke Sherry 9 kills and 2 aces, Paiden Johnson 8 digs, Peyton Cabisca 3 kills and 3 digs, Addison Ristau 3 digs, Lara Pearson 2 aces and 2 kills, and Michaela Dolan 8 assists and 3 digs.
