McDowell beats Warren Tuesday

ERIE — McDowell jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead en route to a 5-1 nonregion boys soccer win Tuesday over visiting Warren.

“We were outmatched in the first half,” said Warren coach Steffen Blair, whose Dragons are 1-1 overall. “Credit to McDowell; they were really sharp and moved the ball well. We came out flat and took too long to settle into the game. Even though we dug ourselves a hole, I was happy with how the boys bounced back in the second half. Jack (Napolitan), Dom (Holmberg), Chase (Sitler) and Casey (Rich) tightened things up for us defensively, and our midfield took control of the pace. Quinn (Norris) and Gavin (Rex) gave us a lot of energy in the second half and helped us find our rhythm in possession.”

Rex scored Warren’s second-half goal on an assist from Norris.

“It’s a disappointing result, but we’ll be better for it and we’re ready to get back to work,” said Blair.

Warren hosts General McLane at 6 p.m. tonight at War Memorial Field.

Starting at $3.50/week.
