Meea Irwin had a hat trick in the first half of an eventual 4-0 Warren shutout of Erie High on Wednesday at War Memorial Field.

Twin sister Leyna Irwin assisted two of the goals, one coming from a long throw-in. Warren’s Lani Wenzel added an assist on a crafty chipped ball over the top of the defense.

Leyna Irwin scored in the second half via a crisp square pass by Lilly Stanley to make it 4-0.

“We played solid soccer tonight,” said Warren coach Mark Ordiway, whose Dragons are 1-2 overall. “I would say we had 80% possession. Our midfield of Leyna, Lilly and Lani really controlled the game for us. Our defense is playing with a lot more confidence and calmness on the ball, which is great to see.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
