CLEVELAND -- Kimio Nelson, owner and head instructor of FTMA Karate, recently competed at the Pan-American Masters Games.
Nelson won two medals at the Karate competition; a gold in Weapons and a bronze in forms. The Olympic-style Games were held July 12-21 and was hosted by the International Masters Games Association.
The Games, which were held in the United States for the first time, had almost 4,000 competitors in 29 events. Forty-eight states were represented. The Games will be in Taiwan in 2025 and in Japan in 2026.
Nelson, who plans on competing in Japan, holds a 7th degree Black Belt and is the founder of Kaneda Goshin Jutsu; is a national and international competitor; a six-time inductee in the National Karate Hall of Fame; holds three National Champion and All-American titles; and was a former USAKF National Team Coach. This is his first international title.
