Bobby Stang smacked three hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in six runs to highlight a 17-hit attack as the Jamestown Tarp Skunks rolled to an 11-2 victory over Newark in the first game of a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Diethrick Park.

The nightcap was a different story entirely.

Gavin Stevens (1-1) pitched a complete-game five-hitter to lift the Pilots to a 5-0 win.

Jamestown is now 8-9 on the season, while Newark is 5-12.

In the opener, every Tarp Skunk had at least one hit. In addition to three from Stang, Nigel Sebastianelli also had three, while Tommy Schroeder (double), Austin Matranga and Noah Brooks all had two.

Simon Aluko (1-0) was the winning pitcher, giving up three hits and fanning five. Austin Kalsek pitched the final three innings, allowing three hits and striking out five.

Aiden Cardoza (2-3) took the loss. Mason Haarr had two of the Pilots’ six hits.

In the second game, Newark scored all its runs in the fifth inning, and Stevens did the rest, finishing with four strikeouts and no walks.

Antonio DiGrigoli highlighted the big inning with a three-run triple. Teammate Sam Miller added a pair of hits.

For Jamestown, Eli Shedd (0-1) took the loss, but of the five runs he allowed, only one was earned. Tommy Schroeder smacked a double and Steven Scarfone had a triple for the Tarp Skunks.

Jamestown is off today. It will return to action Tuesday when it entertains Geneva. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
