The club is hosting its first coaching clinic for all youth, middle school and high school wrestling coaches on Tuesday, July 9 from 6-9:30 p.m. The focus of the clinic is the appropriate tactical-technical practices for preparing wrestlers at all levels. The clinicians include Dr. Dan McLaughlin from North Carolina, Michael Labella from New York and Matt Burlingame from Indiana (formerly from Russell, Pennsylvania).

Dr. Dan McLaughlin is a professor at Wingate University and a former Physical Education Teacher of the Year in North Carolina. He will discuss the importance of developing routines and demonstrate appropriate teaching and practice strategies needed for youth and middle school coaches.

Michael LaBella is a former Edinboro University wrestler who coaches at Massapequa High School on Long Island. He will conduct a presentation on the technical approach for youth wrestling, with a focus on the U-10 age group.

Matt Burlingame, former PIAA state place winner for Eisenhower High School will close the night’s activities. A former Virginia Tech collegiate wrestler, he went on to coach high school in Kansas and Massachusetts, before settling in Indiana. He served as head coach at Manchester College for several years.
