Golf leagues

WARREN — Joe Saber and Tim Watkins earned 24 points to lead the Stableford League at Jackson Valley Golf Course on May 30.

Mike Bonavita and Bill Hodge were second with 23, Rick Gignac and Chet Munksgard were third with 21, and Rick Wagner and Mike Lewis were fourth, also with 21.

Munksgard led from the gold tees with 14 points, followed by Ron Leofsky (13) and Watkins (13).

From the white tees, Lewis led the way with 15 points, followed by Mike Bonavita (12) and Skete Williams (11).

RUSSELL — Jim Hitchcock, Jim Schwab, Gary Bjorkquist and Mike Richmond tied Juan Torres, John DeAngelo, Ross Cali and Bill Gross with 105 points to lead the Senior Men’s League at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

In Group 2, Ed Zieralski, David Garey, Wayne Matve and Doug Harrison led the way with 115 points.

RUSSELL — United Refining’s 126 points lead the Park Avenue Motor Car Men’s Senior League at Blueberry Hill Golf Club.

Jerry Bancroft shot a 34 and Mark Silvis followed with a 38.

Jeff Carlson’s 29 led the net scoring, followed by Jim McMillen (30), Kevin Hartley (30) and Bud Arp (31).

Bancroft made three birdies, while Silvis and Hartley each made two.

RUSSELL — United Refining’s 100.5 points led the Park Avenue Motor Car Men’s Senior League at Blueberry Hill Golf Club after play May 30.

Mark Silvis shot the low gross with a 38, while Don Hardy had a net 30. Jim McMillen, Kevin Hartley, Tim Mack and Ron McClement all had net 31s.

Byron Jespersen made two birdies.

LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Tim Sandberg’s 37 led the Youngsville Senior Golf League at Maplehurst Country Club on May 28.

Rod Korbar and Dale Johnson shot matching 43s, while Jon Steffan and Art Ward had 45s.

Sandberg and Korbar led the net scores with 33s. Mark Johnson and Doug Wheeler had 34s, while Gary VanGuilder had a 35.

Sandberg made three birdies, while Ward was closest to the pin at No. 3.

Hole-in-one

RUSSELL — On Sunday, Peter “PJ” Pasieka aced the 141-yard fifth hole at Cable Hollow Golf Course using his 7-iron. The shot was witnessed by John Davis and Peter Pasieka, PJ’s son.
