Warren softball 10-runned at Franklin
FRANKLIN — After four straight region wins, Warren’s softball team was 10-runned, 14-4, by non-region Franklin on Thursday.
“We committed four errors in the first inning,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart, “and errors in the second and third innings.”
Warren starter Alana Stuart left after two innings trailing 6-1 with all six runs allowed unearned.
Warren led 1-0 in the top of the first. After Alana Stuart walked to lead off the game, she raced all the way to third on Emma Gray’s sacrifice bunt. Alexis Jones hit a stand-up double off the top of the fence to score Warren’s first run.
Trailing 4-1 after one inning, Warren left two stranded in the second after Malysia Sorensen doubled.
Trailing 14-1 in the top of the fifth, Warren tried to extend the game with a three-run inning. Riley Cull walked, and then Warren had singles by Alana Stuart, Gray, Sorensen, Jones, and Alanna Warrior. A pop out ended the threat and ensured the 10-run-rule victory for Franklin (11-9).
Sorenson was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI for Warren (6-11), while Jones was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI and Warrior drove in a run. Alana Stuart extended her on-base streak to 13 at bats.
