Stuart strikes out 15, Warren tops Girard

ERIE — Warren junior pitcher Alana Stuart struck out 15 — for every out — and was one of four Dragons with three hits on Monday, in a 13-0 five-inning non-region win over host Girard.

“It was nice to get another win tonight,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart, whose Dragons are 5-10 after their third straight win and fourth in six games. “We’re looking more relaxed in the box and attacking good pitches. We need to carry this into tomorrow’s game. We’re going to see good pitching, so we need to be ready.”

Warren (4-7 in Region 5) hosts McDowell at 4 p.m. today at Lady Dragons Field. The Trojans are 8-3 in the region and defeated the Dragons, 14-0, on April 25.

On Monday, Alana Stuart allowed two hits for the win, striking out Girard’s first seven hitters of the game.

Alana Stuart, Alanna Warrior, Peyton Hagg, and Natasha Ferry had three hits each in Warren’s 14-hit attack.

“Natasha Ferry has been having great at bats,” said Coach Stuart. “She’s making a big difference in the lineup right now.”

Warren’s junior varsity team lost 17-2 in three innings. Alexis Stec and Braiden Stewart had base hits. Riley Cull and Stec both scored runs.
