SHEFFIELD — Eisenhower and Sheffield — in true county action — split their track & field meet on the Wolverines’ Senior Night.

The Sheffield boys finished their 2024 dual meet season with an 8-3 record, edging Eisenhower 75-66. The Lady Knights, meanwhile, defeated the Lady Wolverines 96-40. Sheffield girls finished 3-8 on the season.

Following are highlights for the Sheffield boys: All three relays were victorious, including an exciting 4×400 that came down to the wire to end the meet. Sheffield dominated the boys hurdle events as well, led by Junior Alex Marfink and sophomore Isaac Hammmerbeck

Following are the highlights for the Sheffield girls: freshman Madison Snell won the 100 meters with a district qualifying time of 13.24. Senior Emily Foster’s personal best in high jump has long remained at 5 feet, 2 inches , the height she cleared as a freshman to win the District 9 title and send her on her first trip to states. It’s been a long time coming, but last night she beat her personal best as a senior and cleared 5-3 to win the event.

After three meets in four days, the Wolverines have a couple of days to rest and recover before heading to Coudersports CARP Park complex Friday for the Northern Tier League Championships with one last chance for all to qualify for the District 9 Championships the following Friday at Brookville High School.

“All of my seniors performed well tonight and I was happy they had a great night with great weather to end their careers on Wolverine Mountain,” said Sheffield head track coach Jason Snell.
