Warren has 2 champs at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK — Warren had two individual champions at Saturday’s SRU High School Track and Field Invitational at Slippery Rock University.

“We had a pretty good day against some new competition. Morgan Alexander (3,200 meters) and Brynn Norris (2,000-meter steeplechase) were champions in their events,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “All around, the kids had some good days improving marks or times. We continue to push for improvements down the last couple weeks of the season.”

Alexander won the 3,200 meters by 10 seconds over 15 other runners in 12:17.21.

“The only meet that has (steeplechase) and we have a champion,” said Dustin.

Norris won the 2,000-meter obstacle race in 8:27.71 by over 14 seconds out of 11 competitors with over 30 teams attending the meet.

Other meet highlights for the Lady Dragons included Lilly Newton’s fourth-place finish out of 29 runners in the 400 meters, and she was 10th out of 34 in the 200 meters.
