Dragons are shut out at McDowell; Knights fall

ERIE — A day after Warren’s softball team scored 18 runs in three innings, the Dragons suffered a 14-0 five-inning Region 5 loss on Thursday at McDowell.

After Gabby Deluca shut Warren down in the top of the first inning, McDowell batted around in the bottom half with the first seven batters scoring.

The Trojans added six more runs in the second inning before Warren’s Alana Stuart came on in relief for the Dragons for the final three outs. She allowed just one unearned run over three innings.

Deluca struck out four over three hitless innings for McDowell (5-1 in the region).

Madison Cornman reached base twice and Alexis Jones had a hit in the loss for Warren, which is 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the region.

In an 11-0 junior varsity loss, Olivia Romanosky had two hits and Braidin Stewart, Riley Cull, and Sophia Fromknecht each had a hit for Warren.

IKE LOSES AT SAEGERTOWN

SAEGERTOWN — The Eisenhower softball team traveled to Saegertown on Thursday and dropped an 11-6 region contest.

Saegertown jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, highlighted by a two-run home run by Mikayla Obenrader. The hosts, who finished with 14 hits, added another earned run in the third inning to take an 8-0 lead.

Tracey Jakubczack and Payton Frank each had two hits for Eisenhower, while Frank and Nikita Nelson each drove in two runs. The Lady Knights were a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases and did complete a double play.

Eisenhower welcomes county rival Youngsville to Werner Park at 4 p.m. today.
