Conneaut rallies past Dragons
LINESVILLE — Conneaut rallied past visiting Warren softball 7-6 in Region 5 softball Saturday.
Lainie Harrington’s two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning overcame a 6-1 Warren lead after two innings.
Warren’s Alana Stuart allowed one run through the first five innings, finishing with 10 strikeouts. After a single and two walks, Jaidyn Jordan’s sixth-inning grand slam cut the Warren lead to 6-5.
Warren’s fourth error of the game began the bottom of the seventh for Conneaut (2-2 in the region). After a strikeout and walk, Harrington’s walk-off hit “got through the infield,” said Warren coach Carissa Stuart. “Alana pitched the whole game. (She) pitched great until the sixth inning; got tired.”
Offensively, Malysia Sorensen had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Teammates Emma Gray and Lillian Devore added two hits each for Warren (1-5 overall, 1-4 in Region 5).
Sorensen, Alanna Warrior and Devore had hits in a three-run first inning, and Danica Abbey and Sorensen hits in the three-run second.
Jordan got the win for Conneaut, throwing three shutout innings of relief.
