Beers, Myers shine for Eagles
FRANKLIN — While not having any overall champions, the Youngsville boys and girls track teams had a great deal of success Saturday at the Franklin Invitational.
Both Ethan Beers and Chase Myers had three top-10 finishes apiece on the boys side while Cassidy Britton and Kinzlea Chase both brought home top-10 finishes in girls competition.
Beers — who was the triple jump champion at the Fort LeBoeuf Invitational earlier this month — had to settle for second this time around with a jump of 41 feet, 7.75 inches. The talented sophomore was also third in the high jump clearing 5 feet, 9 inches and 10th in the long jump.
Just a freshman, Myers was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, finishing in 44.4 seconds before backing that up with a fifth-place run in the 110-meter hurdles (16.47). Along with teammate Ollie Boozer, Myers completed his day with an eighth in the high jump with Boozer was ninth in that same event.
Britton delivered a strong sixth-place run in the 3,200 meters, finishing in 13:16. She was also 11th in the 1-mile run completing the event in 6:15. Her teammate Chase continues to be strong in the girls hurdles events, finishing eighth in the 300-meter hurdles (54.13) and 11th in the 100-meter hurdles (54.13) on Saturday.
Lily Jespersen also had a strong day on the track for Youngsville, finishing 15th and 16th in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, respectively.
Also competing for the Eagles on Saturday were Michael Bojaczko (eighth, 1,600 meters, 5:06; 11th, 800 meters, 2:25), Johnathan Bojaczko (22nd, 1,600 meters), Boozer (13th, javelin; 30th long jump), Cody Jespersen (27th, discus; 35th, shot put; 36th javelin), Greyson Linkerhof (21st, shot put; 39th discus) and Kody Jespersen (26th, javelin; 36th shot put; 40th discus).
Youngsville returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Seneca at Mike Shine Field in Youngsville.
